La blepharoplasty Inferior is a cosmetic surgery procedure that aims to correct certain defects associated with aging of the lower eyelid:
โ Formation of bags under the eyes associated with sagging skin and fat accumulation. This phenomenon is accentuated by muscle relaxation.
โ Lower eyelids wrinkled by excess skin.
โ Dark circles are not treated with blepharoplasty but can be treated concurrently with an injection of fine fat, called microlipofilling or nano fat.
The surgeon can make 2 types of incision, depending on the procedure he plans to perform:
The incision is made in the inner part of the eyelid, that is, at the level of the conjunctiva. This method is used if the action to be performed is the removal of fatty pockets.
Both methods can be carried out in the same procedure if several actions have to be carried out (removal of fatty bags + skin tension, etc.).

Local, more rarely general.
Very variable depending on the complexity of the intervention: 45 minutes to 2 hours.
Not necessary, the intervention is performed on an outpatient basis.
Transconjunctival scars are invisible (inner side of the eyelid) and subciliary scars are poorly visible and easily camouflaged.
Tingling eyes, blurred vision, or slight itching may be experienced temporarily. Eye drops are then prescribed during the first few days. Edema and bruising of the eyelids for 15 days are to be expected.
10 to 15 days of desocialization are required. But clinical recovery is very rapid. The patient can go outside in the first few days by putting on sunglasses.
La lower blepharoplasty allows the entire area to be treated Inferior sight in a single intervention!
โ Scars are invisible
โ Without unnecessary invasive actions
โ Respects the normal anatomy of the eyelid

See moreDepending on the technique used, the scar may be completely hidden inside the eyelid (transconjunctival route). Or be hidden directly under the eyelashes (subciliary) The skin of the eyelids is very thin and generally allows the scar to fade quickly until it is almost imperceptible.
Lower blepharoplasty is often performed under local anesthesia even though it is performed at the same time as upper blepharoplasty. It can also be performed under general anesthesia.
The duration of the procedure is from 40 minutes to 1 hour.
It is a surgical procedure that is performed on an outpatient basis.
Depending on the case: the excision of excess skin or fatty pockets or both at the same time.
It is a painless procedure, the pain is well managed by the usual painkillers.
As with all interventions, there are risks and complications can occur (bleeding, infection, disunity, scarring hazards, neurological disorders, etc.). These are infrequent and can be taken care of quickly by the surgeon during post-operative checks. An information sheet from the French Society of Plastic Surgery will be given to you before the procedure.
My approach is initially to listen to patients in order to determine if their expectations are realistic and achievable and if the risk-benefit ratio is in favor of an intervention.
