What is a tummy tuck?
One plasty Abdominal, or “Abdominoplasty”, is a surgical procedure that treats excess skin and sagging skin in the abdomen.
To do this, a portion of the skin on the belly that is damaged is removed in order to tighten the remaining healthy skin.
Principle of intervention
The layout of the incisions, which corresponds to that of future scars, depends on the location and quantity of injured skin: in practice, the scar will last longer the greater the quantity of tissue to be removed.
In general, the aim is to be able to hide the scar in your underwear. Excess fat can be removed by liposuction and the distended muscles are put back in tension.
The remaining skin (above the navel) is re-draped downwards and can benefit from a “padding” aimed at refixing it on the underlying muscular wall, thus improving tension (in particular of the upper portion) and making it possible to close the detachment space and limit the risk of effusion. For its part, the umbilicus is transposed.

The final result can be assessed after 6 months and the final appearance of the scars can be judged after one year. The patient gets a womb flat with well-taut skin and a refined silhouette. The results are long-lasting, as long as the patient's weight remains stable.
An abdominoplasty does not in any way contra-indicate pregnancy, but it can (naturally) cause a new sagging skin.
